Reading your interesting report ...Dear Matt Jones,

Reading your interesting report abour your visit to the Searles and being delighted by your expertise about the artist I am referring to you in a special matter:
I am desperately looking for 4 or 5 cartoons by Ronald Searle which he, I suppose, created for a magazin in the 70s (Punch?) also with hilarious
comments.
As often they dealt with wine tasting: eying the wine - hearing the wine (finding out whether the grapes suffered pain while being pressed) -
smelling the wine - tasting (producing a sound compared with a duck
releasing wind under water) etc.
These cartoons have neither been published in WINESPEAK nor in SOMETHING IN THE CELLAR.

I am sure you know more about them.
I would be very grateful if you could help me.

Many thanks in advance.
Very best wishes from Berlin,

Ruediger RemmersUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02452079735711116974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27685225.post-72325694916262845332008-11-23T12:02:00.000+00:002008-11-23T12:02:00.000+00:00This is really enlightening and interesting stuff ...This is really enlightening and interesting stuff about Mr Searle.Thank you!I love his work so much.My father was in Changi POW camp and gave me THE CHANGI GUNNER,a book produced by the POW's which Mr Searle had drawn cartoons in.I gave it to the Imperial War Museum for safe keeping.Monficathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02172487427554032655noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27685225.post-69621576482582254572008-11-09T22:07:00.000+00:002008-11-09T22:07:00.000+00:00Hi Matt! Did Ronald Searle talk about a film he made in Paris, a documentary made on art students, with a scene of art students dancing? I am a film-maker and one of the dancing art students was my mum. I would like to use the footage in my current film. My father has seen the complete documentary, on UK television, in spring 1959, but cannot remember the name. Any ideas?amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10220655691939321701noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27685225.post-32367008686000221332008-10-24T14:34:00.000+01:002008-10-24T14:34:00.000+01:00Yeah the French government made Searle 'un Chevali...Yeah the French government made Searle 'un Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres' while the UK have only honoured him with a CBE-a knighthood is WAY overdue.Matt Joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06691360081537045523noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27685225.post-33983084933394179072008-10-24T05:18:00.000+01:002008-10-24T05:18:00.000+01:00Thanx for the great story and HIGH REZ scans!I'd l...Thanx for the great story and HIGH REZ scans!
I'd love to be a 'ink-squire' for RS!
Do they 'knight' people in France like they do in the UK?! ;-)

mark jaquette @
illustrationISM &
BAMMgraphics !illustrationISM....https://www.blogger.com/profile/11403974279736788715noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27685225.post-36653885946706782992008-10-22T22:31:00.000+01:002008-10-22T22:31:00.000+01:00Matt, Great stuff, thanks so much for posting your...Matt,

Great stuff, thanks so much for posting your time with a true master.
