Amazing...just amazing.

I ruined a little patch of the internet describing how the seventh figure (the person standing outside a theatre exit) when considered along Gorer’s description is actually a carefully ambiguous depiction of a particular type of homosexual. Which would have been a bit daring, given the times, and that it was appearing in “Punch”.

Searle is so brilliant. At one time I was obsessed with his art-- thanks so much for helping me rediscover him. These are priceless.

Absolutely wonderful! It's remarkable how Searle captures a character and their surroundings so succinctly. You feel you know all about the individual from just one drawing. Many thanks for taking the time to share these!
