A few years ago Playboy released a Cover to Cover Cd-rom of every issue from the 1950s. Very nice it is too. They were going to release all the subsequent decades as well. But since I appear to be the only person who ever heard of this project and bought one of them, the 50s instalment is as far as it ever got. Shame.I’d copy the two pages for you but it's rather protected software stuff beyond my abilities. The June 55 issue just has two pages of 5 cartoons from varying periods: the guy ordering from a Chinese waiter; the woman who gets off a horse and is revealed to have a horse’s tail; the theatre backer for the “Life of Lord Nelson” with a busty lady in Nelson’s costume; a hotel concierge speaking to a man (obviously hiding a women under his coat) leaving a hotel; a museum caretaker taking a rest, his jacket hung from the arm of a pasted-in photo of dramatic statuary. The tiny blurb accompanying makes it evident that this is to tie-in with the release of the film of “The Belles of St trinians" and publication by Knopf of “The Female Approach”.
Thanks very much for the info-the complete 50s PLAYBOY cd-rom must be a treasure trove of illustration from the era. If you're on a Mac you could try to screengrab the 2 pages-(Apple,shift,4)
