A Phoenix Too Frequent
A beautiful edition of Christopher Fry's story illustrated by Searle in 1959 in a more classical style than usual. He would do complimentary drawings the next year for Robert Grave's 'The Anger of Achilles' 1960

Six Animal Plays
'Six Animal Plays' by Frank Carpenter (1953). The foreword is by Christopher Fry whose 'A Phoenix Too Frequent' 'The Dark is Light Enough' and 'A Sleep Of Prisoners' were also illustrated by Searle.
Thanks to Matthew Dawson for the scans and links. Matt notes the similarity between Searle's Clever Owl and Tom Oreb's design of the owl teacher in Ward Kimball's 'Toot, Whistle, Plunk & Boom' (1953)
