These magazine covers are from 1978, 1976, and 1972. (You can see the effects of the 1970's inflation in the cover price.) Searle's American agent, John Locke, once told me the editors of TV Guide were so delighted with the extraordinary 1976 artwork that they commissioned the cover for 1978. Searle has done other splendid Santa covers for The New Yorker and for the Neiman Marcus catalogue, to name a few.
